On 26th July 2025, on the anniversary of the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas 2025, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi announced the formation of the ‘Rudra Brigade’, a powerful multi-faceted force designed for wars of the future. The brigade will feature infantry, tanks, artillery, drones, and special forces in one group. This new brigade is meant to strike fast in mountain warfare and secure India’s borders firmly.
It is part of a large-scale Army reform to become quicker and more sophisticated. This move by New Delhi comes after the heinous terror attack of Pahalgam, which cements India’s stance that it will strike back hard at any threat. As Rudra represents strength, unity, and readiness of the Indian Armed Forces.
